Week_05

OUR GENERATION
Guest speaker
Damien Curtis
and
Simem Sabab
Made a feature length film with no experience the discussion was how it was made and how they raised funds.
The filming was done at Elcho Island, which is located of the Northern Territory coast other locations were scatted through out the Northern Territory or archive material was used these film may have been filmed many year ago.
Intervention Order
The intervention order was passed with out any consultation with the aboriginal people, which they regard as being rued, for it has always been expected that the eldest of the tribes should be consulted, with this not followed showed a high disregard of respect.
With the past taken into consideration, the reaction was received negatively, this film shows the feeling of the people that it involves, and how the effect has dominoes.
The film has impacted on emotion; they’re feeling of loss of power over their welfare, that the government has a hidden a gender to take control over their say of the use off their land, or being invaded, comment are, time to speak up and take action to stand and protest for our generation, for fear that the Yulnga name will become extinct.
The government states that it is a National Emergency to safe guard the welfare of minors that have been affected by pedophiles, the conflict arises from what to do.
This film bring in the effect of those concerned, the filmmakers have made it very clear.
The filming was done with minimal equipment being a handy cam; try pod and a shotgun mike, first screened at the Darwin Deck Chair Cinema, showing the culture clash and unfinished business.
Help was given from different sources, but a tight budget was followed, the screening of the film when bought is still paying off the expenses.
Jeff McMullen, John Butler with band groups such as Yothuyindi, Goanna gave support, Preparation for this film took over 5 years to develop.

Week_01

Story Boarding
To know the language
Of film making and editing is important so that others working with you as a team know what comes next, so each shot can be made on a storyboard for the crew to follow.
The storyboard is like a road map to give guidance
With notes and description or in some cases a photo shot as well as drawings, if not stick figures as long as it can be interpreted.
The storyboard
Can tell you if there needs to be a long shot or what type is needed the length an if narration is required, music and what angle and movement, to number the shot should be done so that the team needs to know in what order the shooting is done.
